The ICC's International Court of Arbitration is one of the world's most respected arbitral institutions. Since it was founded 70 years ago, the Court has handled more than 8,000 arbitration cases in virtually every sphere of international commercial and financial activity. It has been the driving force behind the development of a number of international legal concepts.
Volume II of ICC Arbitral Awards offers extracts of arbitration decisions from five years of cases handled by the ICC Court from 1986-1990. It supplements the highly successful Volume I, the Collection of ICC Arbitral Awards, 1974-1985. This volume, complete with improved indexes, allows you to better trace the concepts and the reasoning used by distinguished international arbitrators in arbitration decisions. ICC Arbitral Awards 1986-1990 has certain awards reproduced in both English and French. In addition, it is carefully indexed:
The Chronological Index lists the awards in both Volumes I and II in chronological order and updates references to recent literature.
Two Consolidated Analytical Tables in English and French also cover all awards contained in both Volumes I and II; they are based on the terminology used in the awards and case notes and contain extensive cross-references.
The Key Word Indexes can be used, for example, if the reader does not know the terminology or notion of the subject matter in one of the two languages. These indexes will provide the corresponding notion in the other language.
This collection of ICC Arbitral Awards also contains two highly useful new indexes:
- Statistics on ICC Activities: Supplied by the Journal du Droit International concerning the number of arbitration cases, the amounts being litigated, the number of arbitrators, etc. are included here for the first time
- Table of Cross-Referenced Cases: Gives citations to the Journal du Droit International, the Yearbook Commercial Arbitration and the International Construction Law Review for each of the awards published in Volumes I and II of this collection
This collection of ICC Arbitral Awards is an innovative reference work for anyone concerned about ICC arbitration procedures. It is invaluable for the scholar as well as the practitioner involved in drafting, negotiating international commercial contracts and resolving international commercial disputes.
