DRM Activation in Adobe Acrobat Reader Version 6 or 7

Adobe Digital Editions should be used to read recently purchased eBooks.

If you wish to continue to use Adobe Reader 6.0 or 7.0 the Digital Rights Manager (DRM) must be activated to successfully read the
eBook/Digital Edition. Once you have completed the activation process, you will be able to view your eBook with Adobe Reader.

What is activation and why is it required?
Activation is a process that enables your device, whether it’s a computer or a PDA, to view digitally protected content like
eBooks. Technically, it downloads keys that are needed to open eBooks that you buy. Adobe Acrobat eBook Reader employed a similar system, and most other digital media products do so as well.

How do I activate the Digital Rights Manager?
Before donwloading your eBook, you need to activate your copy of Adobe Reader. If you did not activate your copy of Adobe Reader during installation, complete the steps below to activate it now.

Before you activate, please ensure that you are not running a firewall. If so, you will need to disable your firewall before proceeding.

  1. Open Adobe Reader, then go to:
    >Tools
    >eBook Web Services
    >Adobe DRM Activator

For Adobe Reader 7.0 and higher, go to:
        >File
        >Digital Editions
        >Authorize Devices

  1. You will be prompted to sign in to activate your Reader. Please sign in using a Microsoft .NET passport or Adobe ID. If you do not have a Microsoft .NET passport you can get one for free click here
You can register any email address as a .NET passport account, and use this to activate.
  2. After you sign in you will be taken to a page that asks you to create your activation profile. On this page you will be asked to fill in your name and email address again. It is important that you do this, as creating an activation profile allows you to activate Adobe Reader on a computer and a Hand Held. After you have filled in your details please click the 'Create Profile' button.
  3. You will then be asked to click on a button to activate your Reader. Please click the 'Activate' or 'Activate Palm OS device' if you are using a Palm handheld. Adobe Reader will then activate, you will now see the activation data downloading.

You may also activate the DRM by following the steps on the Adobe website at https://aractivate.adobe.com/eden/EdenUI.asp
